| Indian head massage has been practised in India
for over a thousand years, originally by women and the techniques being used mainly on the
head and hair. |
|
|
| |
| These techniques have now been extended to include
the neck, shoulders and upper arms, with oils being used where appropriate. |
| |
| The head, neck and shoulders are important energy
centres within the body. Of the 7 major Chakras in the body, 3 are located in the head and
neck and a dysfunction in any one chakra will result in a knock-on effect which will
ultimately build up and spiral to the head. |

|
|
| |
| Working on these 3 higher chakras has a powerful
effect and can bring the energy of the whole body back into balance. |
| |
| If feeling stressed or angry, tension tends to
accumulate and can later show up as a stiff neck and shoulders, eye strain or even hair
loss. Indian head massage involves working with a firm and gentle rhythm to help un-knot
blockages and relieve this uncomfortable build-up of tension. However, the effect is not
just physical: it works on an emotional level too, calming the spirit, promoting
relaxation and relieving stress. |

|
| |
| It offers the means by which the individual can
begin to get in touch with the healing potential within, and thus become empowered to
ensure their own well-being. |
